As an Integrative Genome Science User Facility, the JGI plays a leadership role in providing genome science capabilities to support BER's mission of achieving a predictive understanding of complex biological, earth, and environmental systems for energy and infrastructure security. In complement to the Community Science Program, JGI researchers drive innovations that cross the boundaries of the Plant, Fungal, Algal, Microbial, Metagenome, Metabolomics, Secondary Metabolites, and DNA Synthesis Science Programs and draw from the infrastructure of Genomic Technologies and Data Science & Informatics. The JGI also sustains a vibrant community of postdoctoral and early career researchers.
