The Sequencing Technologies Group applies cutting edge molecular capabilities and state-of-the-art next-generation sequencing to enable biological discovery by the JGI and external DOE users. Adopting the latest sequencing technologies has allowed the JGI to increase sequencing output while significantly lowering costs.
Staff process samples, perform quality checks, and prep libraries for sequencing. They apply Lean Six Sigma practices to process optimization and development approaches, testing various platforms to see what works best for applications. The team works hand in hand with the Project Management Office to help ensure the JGI’s genomic capabilities are ready and applicable to users.
