Communications & Outreach Manager
Massie S. Ballon is the Communications and Outreach Manager at the JGI. Through multi-platform stories and outreach efforts, the team aims to broaden awareness of and access to JGI public resources and the DOE mission, as well as help cultivate the next generation of genomic research users, partners, and collaborators.
Ms. Ballon is a molecular biology-trained science communicator with extensive experience shaping compelling narratives for diverse audiences. In her prior role as a JGI communications specialist, she served as the primary storyteller and social media manager for over a decade. Her portfolio spans a wide range of topics beyond translating science, including crafting technical reports, developing educational content, and writing feature profiles. She is one of the Biosciences Area representatives to Berkeley Lab’s Stewardship Community of Practice.
