From September 17-21, 2018, we introduce you to some of the postdocs at the JGI in honor of National Postdoc Appreciation Week, which recognizes the contributions of these early career researchers. Through a series of hard-hitting questions, we find out what drives each one.
What do you work on? My work in the Genomics of Plant-Microbial Interactions group led by Axel Visel focuses on plant associated microbes and their genomes. While we know that roots attract a large number of bacteria and fungi, we are not sure which genes can make them stay or help in cases of stress. Using JGI’s vast genomic resources, sequencing and DNA synthesis infrastructure I am trying to understand which combinations of microbial genes can enhance root colonization.
When did you join the JGI? May 2018
Where did you join us from? RWTH Aachen, Germany
